Port Blair, Mar 29: To spread awareness regarding the importance of sport event Cross Country Race (10 KM) for both Male and Female category was organized by the Police Training School, Prothrapur on 25.03.2017.
Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, Police Training School, chief guest flagged off the event from the premises of PTS at 0500 hours starting the route from PTS to Marina Park via Carbyn’s Cove. A remarkable performance of the participants is observed in the event that a new record of 38.10 minutes has been set by RPC/810 G. Dev Raju by breaking previous record of 42.53 minutes of the year 2016. Female trainees participated for the first time and performed well in the event.
Altogether 103 Police personnel from various units/Police Stations including trainees of PTS, Prothrapur participated in the event.
On 28.03.2017, chief guest gave away the medals and cash reward of Rs.3000/-, Rs.2000/- & Rs.1000/- for 1st 2nd & 3rd position holders namely PC/810 G. Dev Raju, PC/305 Dharmendra Bagariya, PC/1526 Aaquib Rahman in male category and PC/325 Padma Kumari, PC/1419 Shaira Banu, PC/1572 Arti Kumari respectively in female category. While acknowledging the participants, the chief guest appreciated the winners and other participants who had shown brilliant performance, and applauded that the event will certainly encourage other Police personnel for participation in the sports events and also highlighted the importance of participation and sports spirit. She also expressed happiness regarding organize of such a successful event and it will motivate other Police personnel in future.
