Mayabunder, Mar 26: In yet another incident of elephant attack, one Mahout was killed on 25 March 2017 at Mayabunder region.
It has been learned that one elephant became violent on 24th March during the routine work and the elephant attacked his Mahout named Shri Jitiya Kujur s/o late Bahora Kujur 55 yrs at Chuglughum near Tugapur, . The Mahout got minor injuries and was admitted to RP Hospital, Mayabunder and the elephant, as per details rushed inside the jungle.
The next day 7 forest and 2 police personnel with arms went inside the forest in search of the elephant at about 08.00 pm and they got success to control the elephant and tried to take the elephant out from the jungle.
But all of a sudden the elephant again attacked upon the rescue party and in this attack one Mahout named C.H. Balraj, S/o C.H. Appal Rao R/o Lucknow was killed while four other personnel got injured including one police personnel.
It is known from the reliable source that one police personnel named Shri Raja, Head Constable in rank saved the lives of other personnel as he showed bravery and fired blank shots by which the elephant left the other people present there and run aside the Jungle.
Today the police party including Dy. SP (Diglipur), SHO, Mayabunder and other police personnel went inside the forest to ensure the safety measures.
