Port Blair, Mar 23:Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands while in Parliament has raised the issue of unpaid balance amount of EX-ATI workers before the Speaker, Lok Sabha on 23rd March, 2017. He further stated that the congress party is not a labour welfare party. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India is only a leader who always thinks about the welfare of Mazdoors of the country. He further added that an amount of Rs. 02.64 Crores towards VRS compensation, gratuity, bonus, salary etc. Payable to Ex- workers of Andaman Timber Industries, Bambooflat were due for payment since 2001-2002.
Since the matter was genuine, Prof.Jagdish Mukhi, Lt. Governor of A&N Islands and Mr. Anindo Mazumdar, Chief Secretary of A&N Administration have taken the matter seriously and decided to release the balance payment to the ATI workers at the earliest as possible.
Mr. Ray, MP further appealed to Speaker of Lok Sabha to arrange for release of unpaid balance amount of Ex- ATI workers together with its interest and for construction of Drydock on the land of ATI to be acquired by Port Management Board.”
