Campbell Bay, Mar 22: The Assistant Commissioner Campbell Bay, Dr Mohd. Rehan Raza along with Mr. Barnabas, Chairman, Tribal Council today visited a tribal village, Chingan at Campbell Bay. During the visit Dr. Rehan met the captain of Chingan Basti, Mr. Kimose and interacted with the villagers. He addressed the issues of the tribals and made efforts for its possible solutions and redressal of grievances.
Later he inspected the primary school functioning at the Chingan Basti where 13 students are presently studying and two teachers are posted. During a free interaction with children it was observed that the tribal children are highly talented, and very creative.
Dr Rehan also met Mr. John who is the first Shompen to pass the 10th class & is presently pursuing his studies at GSSS Vijay Nagar and has appeared for 11th class exams and motivated him to pursue further studies and become a role model for all children.
On behalf of District Administration Dr. Rehan assured his full support to the tribal students and residents of Chingan village. They will be provided with sports equipments so that children can engage themselves in sports activities regularly through their captain and chairman, tribal council.
The Chingan village is situated at 6.5 KMs from Zero Point, Campbell Bay. Presently APWD is constructing a link road measuring 850 mtrs in length which will be completed by next year helping the life of residents of Chingan and improving transportation and services.
The District Administration’s goal is efficient public service delivery and implementation of the Govt. schemes in spirit and letters and reaching the last man in the society. All this is happening under the guidance and astute leadership of DC, Nicobar.
