Port Blair, Mar 08: Port Blair Municipal Council introduced cashless transactions from January 2017 which got very good response from the public. The Andaman & Nicobar Administration during DIGIDHAN MELA has already awarded the PBMC for its exceptional achievement in facilitating cashless payments for its various kinds of dues like Water & Conservancy Charges, Octroi, Property Tax and Market Rent etc. The Hon’ble Lt Governor has also appreciated outstanding performance of the PBMC in implementing the cashless payment system within such a short span of time and mentioned that it may be one of first Municipal body showing such efficiency in this direction.
To further boost the digital payments, the Port Blair Municipal Council conducted a draw of lots for selecting 10 winners out of the digital payments made during the month of January 2017.
Sh. Anindo Mazumdar, Chief Secretary gave the prize money to the following winners in a function organized at PBMC Head Quarter on 08.03.2017 and appreciated continuous efforts of PBMC for encouraging digital payments.
Sh. B. EswarRao, Chairperson informed that the draw for the month of February will be held in next week to select 10 winners. He further informed that the PBMC will shortly launch a mobile application and net-banking facility for further convenience of citizens for payment of various kinds of dues.
Sh. B. EswarRao, Chairperson requested all the citizens to clear their dues by making digital payments and participate in the coming draws.
