Port Blair, Mar 08: On the occasion of International Women’s Day a book titled “Women Empowerment through Self Help Groups in Andaman Islands” written by Dr Hema Bannerjee, Head and Associate Professor of Economics, JNRM was released by Shri Anindo Majumdar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration in presence of Dr. N Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM Port Blair. This book presents lively picture of the contemporary women changing life style through SHGs activities in these islands through empowerment reflecting Nari Shakthi, Nari Shasastikaran. Chief Secretary has appreciated the effort of Dr Hema Bannerjee for her contribution through this book for the society specially women and felt that this book will help the women community to come to the main stream for their development.
