Port Blair, Mar 06: Under the aegis of the Andaman and Nicobar Command, the Clearance Diving Unit treated Mr. B Sunil, aged 50 yrs for decompression sickness. Mr. Sunil had developed symptoms of acute Decompression Sickness while undertaking diving on 01 Mar 17. The victim arrived at Clearance Diving Unit (PBR) with numbness in body along with disorder in walking and severe lower body pain. The patient was administered Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for five hours on 01 Mar followed by another five hours on 02 Mar 17 in Recompression Chamber. On completion of therapy, he was reported to be relieved.
The CDU (PBR) has been extending benign support to divers in emergency. This concerted efforts of naval divers in terms of providing unconditional support to tourists, have resulted in saving the lives of numerous tourists in Andaman Islands.
