Port Blair, Mar 06: As a part of celebration of A&N Police Raising Day-2017, a cultural programme followed by a “Bada Khana” was organized at Police Lines, Port Blair in which around 350 upper and lower subordinates of various units of A&N Police had participated. Shri Rajesh Malik, IPS, Director General of Police, A & N Islands was the chief guest on the auspicious occasion. The said function was also attended by Shri N.S. Bundela, IPS, IGPand other senior officers of A&N Police.
In the cultural programme, various themes including those highlighting the evil effects of Alcohol and Tobacco on the life of police personnel were staged through skits thereby conveying the message of Lt. Governor, A&N Islands.
During the function the DGP, A&N Islands interacted with the participants and felicitated the IRBn and Ladies Police contingent who stood first in the Republic Day Parade – 2017.
The award of “DGP Insignia” which was introduced first time in A&N Police was also awarded to 45 Police/Home Guard personnel and 27 officers of various units in recognition of their outstanding good work, exceptional devotion towards duties, bravery in discharging duties, and exemplary works done in the field of Investigation and Sports activities etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGP, A&N Islands in his address called upon the police personnel to maintain high standards of decency & discipline during duty & off duty hours. He also advised police personnel to provide high quality of services to public and improve their behaviour while dealing with general public. He also highlighted various welfare measures like CPC Canteen further established in Mayabunder and proposed to be opened in IRBn Port Mout also, Family Welfare Canteen for police families, Tuition Centre, E-Quarter Allotment system, Roaster based system for Transfer Policy etc. are introduced for the benefit of the Police personnel and their family members and he urged them to continue doing the good work serving the public.
