Basic infrastructure goes missing in Tourist Favourite Island

Port Blair, June 13: After Havelock, Neil Island is fast becoming the next hotspot of Tourism Activities. Dozens of big business houses are investing money in Neil Islands, smelling boom in tourism activities in the Islands in next two to three years. Already the Neil Island has become one of the ‘Must go Island’ for tourists and the Administration is now planning to send an exclusive ferry boat for tourists visiting Neil Island.
But when everything is said and done, it seems like the Administration is allowing growth of tourism in Neil Island without even creating basic facilities for tourists. In entire Neil Island there is hardly any Urinal or Public Toilet, which makes things difficult for visiting tourists especially ladies.
The roads are bad, the condition of Jetty is horrible and there is no shed for passengers and tourists waiting for ferry vessels at the Jetty.
“In case of urgency we take guests to the hotel as we don’t have public toilets. In case they are away from Hotel some of them even go to nature to respond to nature’s call,” said a tour operator of Neil Island.
However the Zilla Parishad Member and the Pradhan of Neil Island were unreachable over phone to comment on this issue.
