Port Blair, Dec 14: A man namely, Gopi Nath Maiti was arrested on 13 December from Bhathubasthi area for allegedly murdering his 35-year-old wife namely Susti Maiti at his residence at Rut Island.
As per sources after murder on 12 December, the accused reportedly mutilated face of his wife so that no one could recognize the victim.
According to reports, the accused Gopi Nath used to doubt on her wife and he believed that his wife is having an extra marital affair, which reportedly resulted in this Murder.
Sources said that after killing his wife he escaped from the area and came to Port Blair, Bhathubasthi from where the Police had arrested him.
The Couple was staying in the Rut Island since last 8-10 years and it is learnt that they have migrated here from Kolkata. A case has been registered at Humphery gunj police station under relevant sections.
