Port Blair, Dec 11: The Office of the National Union Seafarer of India was attacked yesterday afternoon by some miscreants damaging the glass door to a great extent.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Branch Representative of NUSI, Port Blair, Mr Dharvinder Ram said that the order passed by the Directorate of Shipping Services recently for the six month regularization to Local Contract Crew was rejected by the Hon’ble High Court by passing an interim stay after the matter was taken up by the NUSI in the court.
“This victory of NUSI has left many Local Contract Crew fuming and I think some of them might have done this bizarre act,” said Mr Dharvinder.
He further said that he has reported the matter to the Aberdeen Police Station where he has also given names of two people who, according to him, might have attacked the office.
Mr Dharvinder Ram finally said that NUSI will continuously follow up this issue with the Aberdeen Police so that the culprits are caught soon and necessary action is taken against them.
