Port Blair, Dec 06: The Annual Home Guard Day was celebrated with vigour and enthusiasm on 06/12/2016 at parade ground, Police Line. There was an impressive display of parade by 04 platoons of the Home Guards including one platoon of Lady Home Guards. On this auspicious occasion, Smti.Urvija Goel, IPS, Commandant (Home Guad), A&N Islands took the salute of the parade and addressed the gathering.
During this function, the Commandant (Home Guard) presented the President’s Home Guard Medal for Meritorious Service to HG(R)/39 A.Zakarias which was awarded to him by the President of India on the eve of Independence Day-2015. The Commandant (Home Guard) also appreciated the Home Guard personnel for performing their duties with utmost sincerity and dedications specially while their deployments in the far-flung and isolated Islands in this Union Territory.
On this occasion, senior officers, subordinates of A&N Police and Home Guards were present.
