Port Blair, Nov 25: The Havelock Island has been hit hard by shortage of LPG cylinders. Residents allege that since last nearly two months the LPG distribution system has collapsed in the Islands.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Zilla Parishad Member of Havelock has alleged that Govind Nagar and Shyam Nagar area are still waiting for LPG distribution while Radha Nagar and Krishna Nagar villages have recently got LPG after several requests.
“There is no one in CCS to address the problems faced by public. Being elected members we have to face anger of villagers,” said Mrs. Abala Sammader, the Zilla Parishad Member of Havelock Island.
Public alleges that due to high demand of LPG cylinders at various hotels of Havelock Island, some cylinders are being illegally supplied to private hotels.
However, officials of CCS at Havelock could not be reached for a comment.
