Port Blair, June 04: Forest Extension and Publicity Division, Department of Environment and Forests is going to organize many events/activities in connection withcelebration of World Environment Day 2012 on the theme “Green Economy”. The events are display of bilingual slogans on environmental themes at prominent places, telecast of slogans in Hindi and English from Doordarshan & Cable Network, free distribution of seedlings to the general public, free entry of the publicto Mini Zoo, Haddo and Chidiyatapu Biological Park to create awareness on environmental issues, open to all poster competition on the Topic “Our Environment, ways to Protect it” and essay competition on the topic “How Green Economy is helpful to protect Environment”. A beach cleaning-cum-planting drive has been organized on 5th June 2012 in collaboration with Butterflies NGO where students & youth from Atam Pahar village will be participating in the event from morning of 5th June 2012.
