Port Blair, June 04: The Bharatiya Janta Party today requested the Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary to waive Octroi on Petrol so that the petrol prices become affordable in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. R Vimod, the State President (i/c) BJP today said that together with entire nation A & N Islands also raised voiced against steep hike in petrol prices. “After getting a ridiculous exemption of Rs 2/- per ltr, most of the states are thinking to give relaxation in VAT on Petrol to give some further relief to the consumers. Since VAT is not applicable in these Islands, the Party requests the AN Administration to waive Octroi charges on Petrol,” Mr. Vimod added.
