Port Blair, Oct 26: The three-day in-service training programme under Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Teacher Education on Content Enrichment & Pedagogy for Primary School Teachers (PSTs) of South Andaman Zone organized by Zonal Office (Edn.) South Andaman in collaboration with Dr.S.Radhakrishnan District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) got underway on Wednesday at DIET. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Suman Devi, Deputy Director Education (Acad..) by lighting the traditional lamp.
The motive of the In-service training programme is to enrich the content of various subjects at Primary Stage. During this training programme various components at primary level like Right to Education(RTE), Environmental Studies(EVS),Information and Communication Technology(ICT),Physical fitness & Yoga ,Role of School Management Committee(SMC) and the subjects taught at Primary level will be covered and imparted. Altogether, 70 Primary School Teachers (PSTs) from South Andaman zone are participating in the In-service training programme. Similar training programme will be organized at DEO, Wimberly Gunj, DEO Rangat, DEO, Mayabunder and DEO, Diglipur.
In her address, the chief guest advised the participants to enrich their knowledge always be competent to face the new challenges in the ever changing society. She motivated that education is not the learning of facts, but the training of mind to think. `She suggested the teachers to take personal interest and implement all the components taught during the training.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Lucas Robert, Principal, DIET highlighted the significance of the training programme.He further advised the teachers that learning gives creativity and learning is a continuous process and as a teacher never stop learning.
