Port Blair, Oct 24: The Zonal office of Animal Husbandry, Car Nicobar is making all out efforts to transform kinyuka village as an Adarsh gram by reaching out to the Villagers. With a vision to have better quality livestock and poultry and for capacity building of the villagers a one day training programme in poultry and goatery farming was organized in Kinyuka village of Car Nicobar. This was followed by distribution of birds, goats and also mass vaccination of birds. The villagers were made aware of the benefits of vaccination in birds to protect against Ranikhet disease and other disease outbreaks, regular deworming of livestock and to adopt animal husbandry activities. Vanaraja birds, one of the coloured birds for rural poultry farming reared for egg and meat production, Turkey bird and Malabari goat (buck) were also distributed to the villagers. The Malabari breed is excellent of exhibiting higher multiple birth rates and is raised for meat as well as milk. The training was imparted by Dr. M. Sujata Hedge SVO, Car Nicobar and the team of paravets in the presence of the Captain of Kinyuka village Shri. Otniel Thimothy. At the end of the successful programme, the village Captain appreciated the efforts of Animal Husbandry department and urged the villagers to avail the benefits and services being rendered by the Animal Husbandry Department.
