Port Blair, Oct 20: The second batch of around 43 local youths of these Islands ware given a warm send-off in the Multipurpose Hall of ITI, Dollygunj for deputing them on Training –cum-Placement Programme to LARSEN & TOUBRO Ltd. Construction Skills Training Institute (L&T-CSTI), Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The said function, was attended by Shri. Madhu Sudhan Baidya, Labour Commission and Director of Employment & Training as the chief guest.
At the outset, Shri Venketesh.Ch. Principal ITI, Dollygunj welcomed all the candidates to the event and brief about the training and placement programme being implemented in collaboration with LARSEN & TOUBRO Ltd. Construction Skills Training Institute (L&T-CSTI), Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
Initially the above trainees will be placed for 03 months training at CSTI, Kanchipuram and after completion of Training, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Construction Skill Training Institute will facilitate placement under the job sites of Larsen & Toubro Limited and their Sub-contractors. During the training at CSTI, Kanchipuram, the candidates shall be provided facilities like free training, free boarding & lodging, free food, a stipend of Rs.500 per month, a pair of safety shoes etc.
The Labour Commissioner interacted with the candidates and had their views and interests in L&T- CSTI. He also motivated them to empower themselves by this programme and he ensured that, after completion of training programme there will be immense opportunities available for them in the Construction Industry of India and Abroad.
The selected candidates proceeded on their journey to L&T-CSTI, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu by the sailing of MV Campbell Bay on 20th Oct. 2016. On reaching Chennai, the candidates shall be accompanied by the L&T-CSTI to Kanchipuram.
Further, the local youths of these Islands are informed that, the candidates interested in undergoing training at L&T-CSTI, Kanchipuram, may register their names at the Academic Cell of ITI, Dollygunj on any working day between 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
