Port Blair, Oct 20: The Chairperson, PBMC, Mr B.Eswar Rao alongwith Secretary, APWD, Secretary, PBMC, Chief Engineer, APWD and a team comprising of Mr C.H.Babu, ward Councillors and Officers of the Council inspected the water treatment plant at Jawahar Sarowar treatment plant and Ram Mandhir area, Dairy farm, Ward no 15. The inspection was specifically indented to take stock of ground situation in order to achieve the long felt demands for daily water supply to the citizens. Further, one of the most vital hassles of the local populace of the area is lack of parking places. The Ram Mandir area is congested and the pavement made for free movement of the public is now being utilized for parking of vehicles. As the Dairy farm area is thickly populated and sufficient vacant land is not available for providing such amenities for the masses.
A stretch of land attached to Jawahar sarowar treatment plant is lying vacant since long and request were made to shift the existing compound wall inner to the Jawahar Sarowar so that sufficient space will be available for parking purpose. The Secretary, APWD assured to look into the matter as the land in question cannot be used for any constructive purposes by APWD. The Secretary, APWD further stated that keeping in view of the vital inevitability of the public a fruitful solution needs to be brought out and the same will be communicated to the Port Blair Municipal Council at the earliest.
