Havelock, Oct 16: A 76 year old man namely A K Sreedharan was attacked by a Lt Colonel Martand Misra at Havelock jetty after a dispute.
The old man has suffered serious injuries in his eye, it is learnt.
As per the son of the 76 year old man, the Lt Colonel and his family were trying to jump the long queue for boarding a private vessel.
When the old man asked them to maintain the queue, the Lt Colonel reportedly attacked him infront of everyone.
It is learnt that the old man was immediately rushed to the nearby Hospital from where he was referred to GB Pant Hospital.
Sources said that the Havelock Police has not yet registered any case as they are waiting for the medical report of the old man as well as the Lt Colonel.
The issue has now taken a political shape also as many Councillors are now demanding justice for the old man.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the State General Secretary, TDP, Mr Aziz-ur-Rehman said that Defense personnel are supposed to safeguard the public but instead of that they are doing crimes and they have no rights to attack public.
“We have already taken up the matter with the police and demanded immediate action against the Lt Colonel,” said Mr Aziz-Ur-Rehman.
