Port Blair, Sept 28: The ‘National Painters’ Camp’ organized by Kala Kendra, A&N Islands Society for Promotion of Art & Culture, in collaboration with Lalit Kala Akademi, Regional Centre Kolkata, which got underway on Sept 23, concluded with exhibition of paintings by the artists here this evening at Art Gallery & Studio, Gandhi Park. The First Lady, A&N Islands, Smt. Prem Mukhi was the chief guest on the occasion. The Secretary, Art & Culture, Smt Ankita Mishra Bundela was also present on the occasion.
The First Lady, who is an artist herself, went around the Art Gallery & Studio and evinced keen interest in the paintings on display. She was briefed by the artists about their respective paintings. The First Lady appreciated the paintings on display and urged the artists to continue with their good work. She also painted a few strokes on the occasion.
Altogether 20 beautiful paintings on various themes were displayed at the Art Gallery & Studio. The National Painters’ Camp comprising of six artists from Lalit Kala Akademi besides four sponsored artists from Isles and ten local Artists showcased their talents through their beautiful paintings.
Interacting with this Reporter, Ms. Nabanita Guha, an artist from Kolkata stated that this camp was a great learning experience and it should continue, while Bunty Tensuba, who accompanied his artist father was all in praise for the Isles beauty and its cleanliness. Shri Basu Kumar, a local artist also stated that the camp was a success, coupled with conducive environment for learning from other artists. He also expressed gratitude to Kala Kendra for giving Isles’ artists the opportunity to be a part of this camp.
