Port Blair, Sept 25: The NSS wing of JNRM today organised a programme to celebrate the NSS Day which is celebrated on 24th September every year. Speaking as chief guest Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM, said that as a NSS volunteer one has a great responsibility towards his campus and the society. He appreciated that all the four units of NSS and the volunteers of JNRM are doing a good job. He also stressed upon the volunteers to keep the campus and surroundings clean and spitting free and to take the same message to the society. He also administered a pledge to the volunteers that they would strive towards a cleaner and greener campus and never use alcohol, drugs or tobacco products. A cultural programme was presented by the volunteers of all the four units. NSS student volunteers and programme officer Dr. S. Partiban Assistant professor & Head Dept. of Sociology, ANCOL also participated in the programme. Volunteers who have completed two years were given certificates by Dr. ManjuNair, Associate Professor in Geography. Prizes were also given to the students who participated in the drawing competition. Ms. Venkateshwari NSS volunteer and student of BA 1st year Political Science Demonstrated various yogasanas on the theme YOGA for wellness. Dr. S.K. Jha Assistant Professor in Plant Science spoke on the importance of NSS and Dr. V.K. Sahu, Assistant Professor in Zoology spoke on the importance of community services. Dr. Kandimuthu, Assistant Professor in Economics and State Programme Coordinator NSS highlighted the achievements of JNRM NSS in Community Service and personality development of the students. He thanked the principal JNRM for giving all help and support to the NSS activities in JNRM.
