PORT BLAIR: The Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration has paid an amount of Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the family of Late Jasintha Tirkey, who lost her life due to attack on her by a crocodile recently at Ranchi Basti, Tushnabad. The cheque for the compensation amount was handed over by the Divisional Forest Officer, South Andaman on Tuesdsay to Mr Silvanus Tirkey, husband of the deceased at his residence at Ranchi Basti, Tushnabad in presence of Ms. Mary Jasinta, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Tushnabad and other PRI members of the area.
