Port Blair, Sept 06: In a major initiative, the Education Department of the UT Administration has launched door to door survey to identify students who are deprived of proper education in these islands. According to reports, the survey is currently underway in almost all regions of this archipelago particularly in remote pockets.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha recently, the Secretary, Education, Smt Tanvi Garg informed that a similar survey was carried out in the year 2014 by an independent agency of the Govt. of India. But the Education Department wants to proceed ahead with new figures instead of old ones, she said.
“A well devised format will be prepared by conducting a survey in every nook and corner of these islands and even minute details of the child staying in the house will be taken. The objective is to ensure that no child of these islands is deprived of education. Further 90 percent of Aadhar seeding of school students have been completed and the Education Department aims to achieve 100 percent soon,” added Smt Garg.
