Port Blair, Sept 6: Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Dr. S. R. DIET on Monday in a befitting manner. The Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman was the chief guest and Dr.B.M.Bhatt, Deputy Director Education(Sc.)(Retd.) was the special invitee on the occasion. In his address, the chief guest called upon the trainees to be dedicated, devoted and committed teachers and act as a role model for others to emulate.
Dr.B.M.Bhatt highlighted the role of an ideal teacher and advised the trainees to achieve their goal and dedicate their service to the community. The chief guest also gave away certificates to the last year’s toppers of D.El.Ed. course viz., Ms.J.Puja and Mr. Biswajit Mandal who secured first, second positions respectively during the academic session 2015-16.
In the inter house wall magazine competition-on the theme “Teachers Day” Teal House and Sun Bird House were placed winners and runners up respectively. Kr.Adhitya Bhan, and Ms. Mamta Pandey,D.El.Ed.II year trainees spoke on the role and importance of an Ideal Teacher. The trainees of D.El.Ed. Course presented a colourful programme comprising of a Patriotic Song, Guru vandana dance and Theme dance.
Earlier the Principal, DIET welcomed the gathering. Mr. L.Suku Rajan, faculty DIET proposed the vote of thanks.
