Port Blair, Sept 4: Inspector General Kuldip Singh Sheoran, PTM, TM Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) called on Dr Jagdish Mukhi, Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar on Sept 2. During the meeting, IG KS Sheoran apprised the Lieutenant Governor about the organisation and role of Coast Guard, Coastal security mechanism in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and measures in place for Search & Rescue and Pollution Response at sea. The Lieutenant Governor was also apprised about the various initiatives taken by Coast Guard to increase safety of fishermen at sea and awareness among local populace about coastal security through numerous community Interaction Programmes.
