Port Blair, Sept 2: The 22 Armed Forces officers attending the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) at College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad accompanied by Brigadier NS Sarna, Head of Faculty CDM and Directing Staff are currently on a visit to these islands.
During the visit, the Course is being familiarized with the unique aspects of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and innovative infrastructure development, so that future military leadership remains sensitive to civil security, development, ecology and environmental concerns. The Course is being briefed at the Command Headquarters as also by respective Components. The Course is also scheduled to visit defence establishments at Car Nicobar, Kamorta and Kardip. The Course will visit places of interest in Port Blair including Cellular Jail, theAnthropological Museum and Ross Island, to acquaint themselves with cultural heritage and the glorious past of the Islanders.
CDM is a premier tri-service institution imparting higher management training to officers of the rank of Colonel in Army and holding equivalent ranks in Navy and Air Force. The HDMC participants are exposed to contemporary management thoughts, concepts and practices in leadership.With effective decision making and efficient resource management crucial to enhancing efficacy of the Armed Forces, considerable investments are being made towards knowledge management for military leaders. On successful completion of the course, the HDMC participantsare awarded Masters inManagementStudies from Osmania University, Hyderabad.
