Port Blair, Aug 19: Disaster preparedness continues to be the thrust area of the Andaman and Nicobar Command. As part of the Disaster preparedness a three day capsule course on First Aid and Basic Nursing training for families was organised from 17 Aug to 19 Aug 16 at the Station Health Organisation, Minnie Bay. Lectures and demonstrations were conducted by medical officers and nursing officers. The aim of the capsule course for families of the Armed Forces personnel was to train them in First Aid and nursing procedures so that they could become self- reliant at home and be of help during disaster relief operations in Andaman and Nicobar Command. 30 ladies were trained in the capsule course.
Similar Training was conducted last year in the months of September, October and December, in which families of Naval, Army and Air Force personnel were trained at Naval Residential Area (Vijay Baugh), Brichgunj and Air Force Station Prothrapur respectively. Air Commodore RS Upadhyay, the Chief Staff Officer (Medical) stated that such training would continue to be imparted regularly in the Army, Navy and Air Force residential areas. The next capsule course would be conducted in the Army residential area at Birch Gunj.
