Port Blair, Aug 11: On Aug 11 at about 7.50 am, a Special Service Call was received from Police Control Room that two girl were trapped in a lift at GB Pant Hospital. The staff of Fire Station Aberdeen led by Mr S.S. Khan, Inspector Fire Brigade (Port Blair) swung into action and rushed to the scene with an Advanced Rescue Tender (ART). It was found that two girls were trapped in the lift, which they had used for moving from Ground floor to first floor and it stuck in between ground and first floor due to technical defect. Thus, there was no scope for these girls to get out of from the lift due to shutdown of door of the lift.
The rescue operation was launched immediately with the assistance of accessories from the Advance Rescue Tender (ATR). Due to the earnest efforts of the staff, both the girl viz Miss. C.H. Vinitha aged 14 years and Miss Tanushra Das aged 16 years attached with Sports Authority of India were rescued safely without any injury. The entire operation which was lasted for about 30 minutes.
The officers and staff of A&N Police Fire Service applied their mind and showed high sense of responsibility in saving of life and the entire rescue operation was supervised by Mr B. Saigal, Chief Fire officer.
