Port Blair, Aug 11: As a part of preparatory measure in view of upcoming Independence Day Celebration, on 06/08/2016, the A&N Police in coordination with Revenue, APWD, Health Services, PRIs, Shopkeepers Association and A&N Fire Service conducted a Mock Exercise in the Administrative Building of Diglipur Bazaar. The Scenario of the Mock Exercise was “Terrorist Attack”. The entire exercise was conducted under the direct supervision of Shri. Parvinder Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, who conducted Table Top exercise with all the concerned departments prior to the Mock Exercise and briefed them about their responsibilities to be discharged.
Shri A.K. Trivedi, AC Diglipur also actively participated in the Mock Exercise and extended all possible cooperation. The Mock Drill included intrusion by armed terrorists in the Administrative Building, dissemination of information, establishment of coordination between all the departments, providing of manpower, movement of adequate force to Command Room near place of occurrence, their briefing, combing operation by QRT consisting Commandos, successful apprehension of militants and neutralizing of explosives, search & rescue etc. The exercise was fruitful and it will help to understand the shortcomings and necessary steps will be taken accordingly to tackle such situation in future if arose.
