Port Blair, July 20: The G B Pant Hospital has the services of oncologist but there is no radiation therapy unit in the Hospital. The patients are referred to mainland for therapies.
The issue was raised by the BJP state president, Mr. Vishal Jolly in his letter addressed to Lt. Governor of these Islands. In the letter he mentioned about the inconvenience caused to the cancer patients who has to go to mainland for the further treatment and therapy.
He further added that the patients had to stay at Chennai/Kolkata for months for the therapy and the patients and attendants incur heavy expenditure.
He further thanked the Lt Governor on the behalf of the people of A & N Islands for the establishment of Dialysis unit at G B Pant which is a blessing for people who need dialysis frequently.
He requested for the establishment of radiation unit together with its accessories for the welfare of Cancer Patients of these Islands.
