Port Blair, June 14: The 500 KVA Distribution Transformer installed near Bhatu Basti Check-post started malfunctioning recently and to meet the power demand of the consumers, the Electricity department has immediately installed one readily available 315 KVA Distribution Transformer in place of 500 KVA, as stopgap arrangement, due to which, the department is forced to isolate the street lights due to capacity constraint of the transformer.
As such, the street lights of Bhatu Basti, Chidambaram Colony and Garacharma Maruti showroom will remain affected till installation of adequate capacity transformer near Bhatu Basti check post.
