Port Blair, June 05: A massive tree today fell on a semi RCC house at Sisty Nagar, causing extensive damages. Luckily no one was injured in this accident.
As per details the accident took place this morning and the tree fell right on the rear side of the RCC house, damaging most of the rooms.
The house owners alleged that they had arranged 15 mazdoors recently for cutting the tree but some unknown people of the area came and objected to this and finally the tree could not be cut.
The family also requested the Administration to release compensation for this huge loss.
The Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray visited the house and heard the problems of the family. He said that ensuring safety of life and property is the responsibility of government and hence the Administration must release compensation as early as possible.
He said he will also be sending a letter to District Administration asking the District Administration to form a task force to identify and cut all the dangerous trees in a time bound manner.
Police Team under supervision of SDPO South Andaman, Mr. Aslam and Fire Brigade Team also reached the spot on time.
