Port Blair, May 6: The All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) is organizing the 3rd South Asian Cities (SAC) Summit 2016 on Smart cities –Aspiration and Challenges from May 6-7, 2016 at New Delhi. The summit was inaugurated by Smt Sumitra Mahajan, Loksabha Speaker in the presence Mr K.K.Sharma Chief Secretary , Govt of New Delhi, Mr Chouhan Director, AIILSG, Smt Sharma, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Delhi East, Mr Jatin Modi, Ex Mayor, Vadodra. Smt Sheela Singh, Chairperson. Port Blair Municipal Council and Mr Udit Prakash Rai, Secretary are also participating in the summit.
In her address, Smt Sumitra Mahajan stressed on water and ecological balance which was followed by a lecture by the Chief Secretary of New Delhi on the urban solutions in New Delhi like odd even formula, sanitation, waste water management etc. Mr Chouhan of AIILSG has spoken about the activities of the Institute with specific mention about their role in preparation of Smart city proposal for Raipur and Faridabad. The summit provides a platform to discuss and identify knowledge/technical partners to be involved in the Smart city Mission. The conference also throws an opportunity to study best practices being undertaken by different ULBs all across the world and implement them in our city.
