Port Blair, April 27: The Govt. of India has chalked out programmes to organize Swachhta Pakhwada under Swachh Bharat Mission from April 1-31, 2016. Accordingly, the period from April 16 to 30 has been dedicated on the theme “Heritage places and Monuments”. In accordance with the instructions of Govt. of India and in view of the fact that the Bus Terminus at Mohanpura is the central point serving various monuments in the Port Blair city, the Municipal Council in association with Transport Department, A & N Administration organized a cleanliness drive at STS Bus Terminus, Mohanpura on Wednesday.
The Chairperson, Municipal Council, Smt Sheela Singh led the drive along with Mr Udit Prakash Rai, Secretary, Smt E. Rani, Councillor, Ward No. 4, Smt S. Selvi, Councillor Ward No. 5 and other officials of the Council and Transport Department. The drive was focused on cleaning the campus of the Bus Terminus. The civic chief also took note of various sanitation related issues in the Bus Terminus and instructed the concerned officers to take immediate necessary action. The drive was supported with mass awareness through mobile announcements, wherein Port Blair Municipal Council requested general public to support for achieving the target of making Port Blair city clean.
