Port Blair, April 17: In a function organised by Our Rights Organisation of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri Naresh Chandra Lall, a local Film Maker and Film Director has been given a rousing reception on 17 April evening in the premises of ORO Office, Tamizhar Sangham Complex, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair for his coveted Padma Shree Award received from the Hon’ble President of India recently.
In his welcome address, Shri C. Saravanan, Chairman of ORO thanked Padma Shree Lall for accepting their invitation and attended the function and said that Padma Shee Naresh Chandra Lall is the first person of this islands for receiving this Award in recognition of his achievements in the field of theatre/drama, cinema and for being conferred with Padma Shree by the Hon’ble President of India.
Praising Padma Lall, he further said that Shri Lall is sincere and devoted person who always stood to present the Islands’ progress, prosperity and culture of the people.
He said, Padma Shree Lal’s sincere efforts on this score has finally brought laurels to these islands.
In his speech, Padma Shree Lal expressed his sincere thanks for felicitating him in this evening and appreciated the efforts of the organisers of the OROs in recognising him and felicitating.
He explained before the audience that he had sincerely took great efforts to project the image of the culture before the world through his various films shot on the islands.
Smt. Kamala, Retired Post Graduate Teacher of the Administration who was also felicitated by the ORO on her superannuation, appreciated the work of Padma ShreeLall for getting this noble Award from the Government of India.
Shri Murugan who was also training the policemen in the islands in Martial Arts and Karate for the last about twenty-five years has also been felicitated on this auspicious occasion by the ORO.
Shri R. Karuna Nithi, Vice Chairman of the ORO appreciated the yeomen Services rendered by Padma Shree Lall, Smt. Kamala and Shri Murugan in their fields. He said that all these persons have contributed their role and sincere efforts in the upliftment of the social life, raising the Islands socio-cultural life of the islanders throughout islands as also the whole country.
