Port Blair, April 11: The four days of Coastal Security Exercise conducted in the Andaman sea concluded on April 8. The Central and State maritime stakeholders i.e A&N Administration, A&N Police, Police Marine Police (PMF), India Reserve Battalion (IRBn),CISF, Customs, Fisheries Department, Forest Department, Port Management Board (PMB), Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), Director General Light House and Lightships (DGLL) and all intelligence agencies along with assets from Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard of Andaman and Nicobar Command participated in the exercise.
The exercise was controlled and monitored by Headquarters, Andaman & Nicobar Command and coordinated by Indian Coast Guard (Andaman& Nicobar Region). The exercise was conducted in two phases. In the first phase officials from all agencies participated in simulated drills. The second phase was the ‘Validation Phase’ conducted from 05 Apr 16. During the validation phase live situations were simulated to assess the coordination among the various stakeholders to the developing situations.
The 13th exercise conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands help in revalidating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on coastal security involving many agencies and synergizing the efforts essential to security.
