Port Blair, Apr 02: The Port Blair Municipal Council is upgrading the Smart City Proposal,that was initially submitted to the Ministry of Urban Development, based on the critical observations made by the panel of experts constituted for this purpose by the Smart City Mission Directorate.
After the initial public consultation in February, 2016 the entire proposal was re-looked into by a team of officials drawn from PBMC, line departments in the A& N administration and other key partner agencies such as SOVTECH, C-DAC, National Small Industries Corporation and NIC.
Key inputs from Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad (Mentor Institute) and the consultant for PBMC (NCPE Ltd) were also taken to draft the upgraded Smart City Proposal.
Based on the inputs received from various stakeholders, the original proposal was upgraded and new projects were developed under six broad themes: Tourism for Inclusive Development, Smart Mobility, Smart Infrastructure, Compactness, Social Development, Security and Empowerment and Resilient City.
The Municipal Council has already been apprised of the upgraded smart city proposal in the council meeting held on 30th March, 2016. The draft proposal was also briefed to the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary in an elaborate meeting held for this purpose at Raj Niwas on 31st March, 2016 and critical inputs were taken and the proposal was revised accordingly.
The PBMC now invites the general public to offer their inputs on the list of finalised projects. The list of projects are hosted in the MyGov Portal (www.mygov.in) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/smartcityportbalir) for inviting public opinion on or before 07th April 2016. The inputs from the public will enable PBMC to improvise the Smart City Proposal.
The last date for submitting the Smart City Proposal before the Ministry of Urban Development is 15th April, 2016.
