Port Blair, March 30: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Dr B R Ambedkar Institute of Technology conducted a special residential, two day camp at New Wandoor village recently to clean-up the seashore area and motivate people to maintain cleanliness. Altogether, 15 NSS volunteers with other staff participated in the camp and undertook cleaning drive near the seashore around 250 meters long and surrounding of school compound around 200 Sqm. Some sports events were also organized in which local youth of the village also participated.
On the second day of the camp, the volunteers performed yoga, followed by physical exercise under the command of Program Officer-II, Mr Sanjeeb Roy. A free dental check-up and oral health awareness camp was also organized for the villagers which was conducted by a Dental Specialist, Dr. Selvaraj and his team. About 30 villagers attended the free check up including children and police persons of the area.
At the valedictory function, volunteers shared their experiences. Er. VekatRamanan, JE, APWD and Dr.V Alagusundaram HOD (Humanities) DBRAIT addressed the gathering. The Program Officer-I Shri Rajib Bag, proposed the vote of thanks.
