Port Blair, Mar 22: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Port Blair will conduct a National Seminar on “Strategies for the Development of Food Processing Sector in the Islands” March 23, 2016at its Garacharma Research Complex. Mr Anindo Majumdar, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration will inaugurate the seminar at 10.30 am in the conference hall of CIARI. Dr. Nawab Ali, Former DDG (Eng.), I.C.A.R., New Delhi, Smt. Rashmi Singh, Secretary, Industries, Mr Ajit Anand, Director of Industries will be the guests of honour. Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, ICAR-CIARI will preside over the function.
The event aims to bring together distinguished scientists, technocrats, entrepreneurs, progressive farmers in these Islands and expert from mainland to share the knowledge and to identify issues and evolving technologies related to the development of food processing sectors to render better services to the Islanders.
Progressive farmers, Departmental staff, Scientists, SHG’s groups, NGO’s and Gram Pradhans will be participating in the day long seminar. The seminar will be coordinated by Dr. S. Swain, Scientist & Organizing Secretary under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director and Dr. B. Gangaiah, HOD, NRM Division, CIARI.
