Port Blair, Mar 22: The Dream of establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in South Andaman will become a reality soon. The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has identified a land at Port Mout Village, Ferrargunj Tehsil under South Andaman District and requested the Deputy Commissioner (Admn.), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Hyderabad Region to depute their representatives of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Hyderabad Region for inspection of identified site for conformity and suitability of establishing the proposed Navodaya Vidyalaya.
The Secretary (Edn.) in her letter addressed to the Member of Parliament confirmed this.
After formation of new District of North & Middle Andaman, the South Andaman District is entitled for opening of new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya under the Common Minimum Programme in special focus districts (identified as Educationally Backward/ Minority Concentrated / SC Female Literacy less than 10%).
In this regard, the Member of Parliament requested Deputy Commissioner (Admn.), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Hyderabad Region to depute their representative for inspection of identified site at Port Mout under South Andaman District for conformity and its suitability. At the same time the Member of Parliament requested the Administration to expedite the above issues.
It is pertinent to mention that Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament had been demanding for establishing Navodaya Vidyalaya in South Andaman District since long.
Death Mourned
Port Blair, Mar 22: The PCC President Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma and all senior leaders of Congress party have deeply mourned the sad demise of Mr. Kuttan Pillai, 78 years, R/o Betapur No.2, Middle Andaman and prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to their family members to bear the irreparable loss.
