Port Blair, Mar 20: The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has accorded in Principal approval for 21 nos. of minor bridges/ culverts amounting to Rs.43.00 crores, to be taken up under CRF for connectivity to villages in various part of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Ministry has further requested Andaman & Nicobar Administration to send a proposal for Administrative approval of the Ministry subject to the conditions that the UT Administration shall ensure that encumbrance free land for construction of minor bridges and culverts; Accrual per year for under CRF is about Rs.7.0 crore per year only, UT Administration shall give an undertaking that they will not claim amount more than the accrual amount for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and In principle approval is accorded based on the approximate cost, however UT Administration shall work out the actual cost based on actual site conditions and get the Administrative Approval from the Ministry before tendering/ start of work.
In pursuant to that, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament through this press note further requested the A & N Administration to ensure the above condition and to send a proposal for Administrative approval of the Ministry at the earliest.
The Member of Parliament has expressed his heartiest gratitude to Shri Nithin Gadkari, the Minister of Road, Transport & Highways for approving the above 21nos. minor bridges/ culverts, which was pending since long.
