Port Blair, March 14: The Traffic Police Unit of Port Blair has urged the general public of the islands to cooperate with them in all possible ways for better Traffic Management in these Islands.
Addressing a Press Conference today at the conference Hall of SP (District) Office the Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Mohammed Umar said that the Traffic Unit has no personal interest in imposing challans and therefore he requested the public to obey traffic rules to avoid challans.
He said that as per the instructions of the Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands the traffic unit is creating more and more awareness among the masses.
“We have organized many awareness campaigns at various Schools in these islands and are also organizing awareness programs in different parts of the city like Marina Park, Junglighat etc,” Mr Umar said.
Mr Umar further also requested the cooperation of the media and said that instead of criticizing the Traffic Unit media should help the Traffic Police Unit to create awareness among the people of these islands as the Traffic Police Unit has left no stones unturned for better Traffic Management in these Islands.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Superintendent of Police, Mr R K Pandey said that road users should respect the rights of other road users and for that the basic rules is needed to be followed. He further requested the people to help the Traffic Police Unit for better traffic management in the city. Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Inspector, Traffic Unit was also present during the Press Conference.
