Port Blair, Feb. 10: The Traffic police has urged all the schools to open a new gate on the side lanes to deal with congestion of the main road.
In a press release the SP Traffic today said that majority of schools located in Port Blair have their main gate opening on the road which is a cause of concern from traffic point of view.
“In the morning and afternoon school hours parents in their vehicles visits the schools for dropping and picking of their wards thereby creating congestion. Since the road width is not much, there is possibility of untoward incident/accident being caused by other motorists using road,” the SP said.
He added that to overcome the problem of congestion and minimizing the chances of accidents the School Authorities of private as well as Govt. have been requested to open new gate on the side lanes, Deployment of teachers for the assistance of students while crossing the road and introduction of School Bus service for the conveyance of School students .
