Port Blair, Feb 04: Rotary Club of Port Blair in Association with Rotary Club of Ambattur in Chennai distributed 1000 Bed kits to the underprivileged Children from various schools spread across the Diglipur Zone.
Each of these bed kits sponsored by the Sleeping Children Around The World (SCAW) , consist of a foam mattress, pillow, bedsheet, blanket, mosquito net, Rain coat, clothes outfit, towel and school supplies.
The distribution was carried out on 29th and 30th January 2016 at Multipurpose Hall, Diglipur and at GSSS Kalighat. SCAW is an NGO of Canada established with an objective to donate and volunteer with Rotary to transform the lives of children in developing countries through a good night’s sleep.
The whole project was completed under the active participation of members of Rotary Club of Port Blair & Rotary Club of Ambattur in Chennai. The Rotary Club of Port Blair is thankful to M/S T C I Seaways, M/S R SADHA & SONS, M/S Ravi Realcon Pvt. Ltd., M/S Surendra Sales Corporation, M/S P Arumugam & Sons, M/S Ali Stores, M/S Karpagam Hotel and Mr. Sushanto Biswas of Sigma Travels, Diglipur, for their sponsorship and participation in the project. The Rotary club Port Blair also acknowledges the support and co-operation extended by A & N Administration, A & N Police, State Sports Council and Director of Education for the successful conduct of the project.
