Port Blair, Jan 28: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair is organizing a 15 day Induction Training Programme for the National Youth Corps Volunteers from Jan 28 to Feb 11, 2016. The volunteers of National Youth Corps are young boys and girls selected and deployed for undertaking social service activities in rural villages under the National Youth Corps Scheme of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The schemes of training and deployment of these young volunteers for one year to implement youth development activities .they will act as the field functionary of Nehru Yuva kendras linking the village youth organizations and NYKs in the District Level for implementing the youth development programmes. In this training total 24 National Youth Corps volunteers from Campbell Bay, Car Nicobar, Diglipur, Rangat and Port Blair are participating.
The training was inaugurated by the Mr Casper James, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry, Nicobar District, while Swami Sudhananda Saraswati Achariya, Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair was the guest of honour on the occasion.
In his address, Mr James spoke about the potential capacity of youth and appeal to the volunteers to utilized this golden opportunities provided by the NYKS. Swami Sudhananda Saraswati Achariya, Chinmaya Mission said the youths are not useless, but used less, their energic is not channelized in a proper or right direction
Mr Kundan Lal, District Youth Coordinator, Nehryu Yuva Kendra, Port Blair welcomed the gathering. Mr Alphonce Toppo, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Rangat spoke on the events to be held during the 15-day training programme. Mr Mohammed Tarique Shah, DYC, NYK, Kamorta proposed the vote of thanks.
