Diglipur, Jan 22: A two days training on “Value addition in Livestock Produce” was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), N. & M. Andaman at Ramnagar, Diglipur w.e.f. 19/01/2016 to 20/01/2016. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Smt. Phoolmati tigga, Up-Pradhan, PRI-members and Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, N & M Andaman. On the occasion Smt. Phoolmati tigga motivated the farmers to take the processing of livestock products as an enterprise to improve livelihood and thanked the Krishi Vigyan Kendra for organizing the programme for benefit of farming community.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior scientist and Head/ Course Director highlighted the importance of value addition in livestock produce. He said that processing of livestock produce increases the self-life and market value of livestock products.
Dr. Shardul Vikram lal, SMS (Animal Science)/ Course Co-ordinator discussed briefly on variety of traditional dairy products and methods of their preparation. He also emphasized the need to organize the production of traditional dairy products. During the programme demonstration on preparation of paneer, dahi and shrikhand was also arranged for the farmers. The closing ceremony was chaired by Shri. Jadhav Sammadar, Panchayat Samiti Member. On the occasion Shri. Jadhav Sammadar appreciated the efforts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in bringing awareness among the people of the region.
A total of 46 farmers and farmwomens were benefitted from the programme. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior scientist and Head, KVK, N & M Andaman and Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI.
