Port Blair, Jan 01: The Concluding function of the week long celebration of “National Consumer Rights Day 2015” which began on 24th Dec was held on 30/12/2015 at the Auditorium of Govt. Girls’ Sr. Sec School. The function was organized by Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. The Theme adopted by the Central Government for this year was “Safe and Healthy Food: Combating Food Adulteration”.
Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest Shri. Anand Prakash,IAS Chief Secretary, A&N Administration applauded the Department of CS&CA for organizing such function to create awareness for Combating Food Adulteration and urged the general public and students to come forward to tackle the menace of Food Adulteration. Earlier Smti. Rashmi Krishnan, Secretary (CS&CA) welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Shri. Sudeep Niyogi, President District Forum, A&N Islands and Dr. Dinesh, Member State Commission also addressed the gathering.
During the week long programme around 600 students of different schools of South Andaman District took active part in the various competitions like Elocution/Essay/Drawing/Skit and Dance in the Auditorium of Govt. Girls’ Sr. Sec School. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration gave appreciation certificate to some staff members of Civil Supplies Department for their outstanding work and prizes were also given to the winners of various competitions held during the week long celebration. Shri. Subir Chander, Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman District also gave away prizes to the winners. Smti. Lata, PGT of Govt. Girls’ Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair anchored the programme and Shri. Aneesh Chatterjee, Joint Registrar, State Commission proposed the vote of thanks.
