Port Blair, December 23: Two rescue calls today kept the Fire Service busy entire day.
In the morning a special service call was received by the Fire Brigade at 9:50am about falling of a massive tree branch near the exit gate of Secretariat to which the Fire Brigade team responded quickly with a Pick Up Van with cutting tools were sent. Soon the team cleared the blockage near the exit gate of Secretariat, a huge traffic jam was witnessed due to this incident.
In the afternoon today, a minor grass fire was reported at 12:40pm from Velodrome area, where a team of fire brigade jawans reached immediately with fire tender and prevented the fire from spreading. It is learnt that no one suffered any injuries in the incident neither there was any damage.
Both the operations were carried out by a team headed by Sub Inspector, Dilip Karmakar, under the overall supervision of Chief Fire Officer, Fire Brigade.
