Port Blair, Dec 06: The Lt. Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), who arrived from Puducherry today, took a review of the functional difficulties being faced by the Zilla Parishad South Andaman. He gave directions that issues which are within the Rules be resolved immediately. He gave directions to the CEO of the Zilla Parishad to take steps to immediately provide the required staff and office equipment, taking care to follow the codal regulations.
The RO plant at New Wandoor, damaged during the Tsunami, should be made functional at the earliest. He was apprised that the RO Plant machinery procured for Dhanikhari is lying uninstalled due to poor soil conditions, will now be installed at New Wandoor to make the defunct RO Plant functional.
Expressing appreciation over the initiatives of the Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad (SA) to highlight and seek resolution of the problems of fishermen, he directed that Secretary (Fisheries) should take immediate action on the issues.
